Erin Payne is a Southern California native. She recently received her MFA in Studio Art from Claremont Graduate University and has an undergraduate background in both Art and Environmental Science. The precarious and sometimes humorous relationship between humans and the world we share with other living things is a big theme in all of her work. The "Diorama Project" involves building and painting landscape backdrops, physically inserting them into the environment and photographing the experience. The final result is the photograph. Erin shows her work both locally and nationally. She was recently featured in the April/May 2011 publication of New American Paintings (93rd edition) and chosen "Noteworthy" by juror, Randi Hopkins, Associate Curator, Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.
